What Is RSS?
If you've been doing a lot of surfing lately, you will notice that some websites, like mine,
have this orange buttons that says RSS or XML. What is RSS?
Well, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. The thing about it that you have to know
is how it will help you. It is actually very simple.
Let's say you have a favourite website that you would go and visit everyday to see what is new. If that site has RSS feeds, then you won't have to anymore.
The website will come to you. They will come to you to inform you of any updates, latest product releases and information.
This is great! This means, you get the latest info from your favourite website. When that happens,
you will no longer need to go to that website. You can get all the favourite parts of the web to come to you.
And you decide whether or not to check that site much further if their feeds interest you.
You can get newsfeeds from CNN or BBC, movie releases and even sports update. If you are no longer interested in a particular feed, just delete it. It's all you.
Wow! This is really a huge benefit. How do you get it to happen? First, you need an RSS reader. There are many softwares out there, some of it are :
http://www.rssreader.com/
or
http://www.usablelabs.com/productBlogExpress.html
Once you've installed the software, go to your favourite website with the orange RSS or XML
mark on it, right-click the icon and select 'Copy shortcut'.
Then, paste the shortcut in your RSS reader.
There! You're subscribed.
If you do not want to use these softwares, you could always choose My Yahoo! or My MSN.
Sign up for an account there (it's free by the way) and start receiving your feeds.
Once you know what is RSS, you will never get tired of it.
It is a simple but powerful tool.
PS. To subscribe to my RSS feeds, right-click on the icon below. Here, I will share with my subscribers any new topic in the area of flower arrangement, which I've added to my website.
So, you don't have to spend hours on the site to check out what's the latest. Check it out!
