Upright Moribana Variation 5

We have come to the upright moribana variation 5 arrangement. Variation 5 is particular to moribana arrangements.

In variation 5, the Hikae is separated from Shin and Soe. That means to say, Shin and Soe are grouped in 1 kenzan.

And Hikae on another kenzan. The two kenzans are placed not near to each other but rather apart so that their individuality is maintained but at the same time can create a balance to the whole arrangement.

To understand better, look at the kakeizu below.

The Shin, Soe and Hikae's positions are maintained, just like in the basic upright style, but only the Hikae is separated.

Shin = 15 degrees forward, on the left
Soe = 45 degrees forward, on the left
Hikae = 75 degrees forward, on the right

Now, prepare the shallow container for the arrangement and the two kenzans.

For Shin and Soe, I use green berries. For Hikae, I use purple eustomas.

Arrange the three main stems first. Then, add supporting stems for Hikae.

Then, add supporting stems for Shin and Soe.

Now, your arrangement is complete.

The space between the two kenzans is known as the 'fish path'.
