Have A Peek At LAMAN 2008's Theme Showcase
All the wonderful ideas and creativity from floral designers were brought together in this festival, into the Theme Showcase, for visitors to admire. Let's see what ideas they have come up with in this festival. Here's the first showcase and an interesting one, because the materials used are mostly vegetables. There are 3 structures, all made of thick bamboos. 2 are tripods and the other is below the 2 tripods. On one tripod, you can see a combination of heliconias, garlic, long beans and cabbage. On the other tripod, you can see small tomatoes hanging, cabbage, tuberose, garlic, stink beans and other flowers. At the bottom, are cucumbers, potatoes, calatheas, guavas, oranges and apples.

This one has 4 structures, but made of steel, and each with a theme color. Yellow for sunflowers, orange for gerberras, red for chillis and anthuriums and purple for dendrobiums.

Beautiful rainbow colors, making it a playful showcase. I believe the "rainbow" is made of rafia ropes. To complement the colors, various flowers and fruits are used. At the center, you can see yellow, pink, purple, blue and red pomanders made of daisies. Then, on the sides you can see corns, mangosteens and oranges hanging.

A simple Malay wedding setting. An arch made of white roses pomanders and beautiful dried branches. For more flower decorations for weddings, click here.

A red-themed showcase, with pillars and 'crystal trees'. On top of the pillars, are red arrangements of red carnations and red anthuriums. The 'crystal trees' are made of apples, crystals and english ivy.

Another wedding setting, but I think this one is really special because the designer used vegetables. The 'chandelier' is made ofsmall mirrors with red and green capsicums. On one chair, is a bouquet of broccoli, red and green capsicums, red chillis and english ivy. On the other, are red roses, calatheas and red anthuriums. The chairs are actually hand-made, using tree branches that are tied together.

There is a wooden boat in this showcase. You could also see a fishing net, so I would say this is a 'fisherman' themed showcase. All kinds of flowers are used, like pink stargazers, calatheas, red gingers, red heliconias, yellow cymbidiums, cherry pink anthuriums and leucadendron.

This is a neat showcase. Less decoration but impressive. There are two arrangements, one for the upper structure and the other for the bottom structure. But both uses similar materials for a united look. The arrangement uses light pink anthuriums, light pink roses, purple cymbidiums and fox tail. I thought the use of white stones is a good idea.

An 'Under The Sea' themed showcase, using all kinds of flowers, from pink stargazers, white casablancas, calatheas, purple pansies, platycerium leaves and eucalyptus leaves. Big sea-shells are placed in between the flowers and small sea-shells are placed all around the arrangement, making this showcase carries its theme well.

This theme showcase won the GOLD AWARD for best showcase category. Designers were from Taiwan. It is all about promoting Taiwan as a tourist destination. An array of colorful daisies and pom poms, with beautiful pictures of sceneries of Taiwan.

Last but not least, a showcase displaying a beautiful garden outside a home. A rake is placed in the garden to make the garden look real. A humble and decent garden for the home.
