The 17th Penang Floral Festival in Penang, Malaysia

The 17th Penang Floral Festival was held from 27 May 2007 to 3 June 2007 in Penang, Malaysia.

I had a chance to visit the floral festival on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd June with my family. It was held at the Botanical Gardens.

We arrived Penang late that evening, because my husband had to work the first half of the day.

Although it was a tiring weekend, but I had the chance to look at the creativity portrayed by the local florists.

The place was quite crowded as we struggled to find a parking space. When we found it, it was quite far from the entrance of the botanical gardens and we had to walk there.

During the walk, we cound see banners of the floral festival on lamp posts, such as this one...

First, we visited the Garden Expo, which had stalls selling agricultural products. Here, you can get plants at reasonable prices.

You can buy pots, fertilizers, seeds and anything for your gardening needs.

After that, we went to the site where the floral displays are housed. The entrance was decorated with beautiful flowers with a variety of colors...

First, there is a display of the winners from the Adenium Competition.

Then, there was a display of winners from the Orchid Competition.

Then, we headed to the tent where there are floral art displays, created by local florists, the highlight of our visit.

Below are some of the works on display..

A design of red anthuriums and red pillars

A display of pink gingers, pink anthuriums and yellow lilies

A tropical display of heliconias and bird of paradise

An interesting work of hoops, red heliconias and yellow daisies

All and all, we had a great time in Penang. I get to see the floral displays, we had great food and great time shopping at the night market.

I'm glad I went to the 17th Penang Floral Festival this year. I wonder what's in store next year?
