Nageire Flower Arrangements
Nageire flower arrangements that focuses on colors, material, lines and color of the container. There are also other 'themes' that can be focused on like shape of container, vine materials and the area where it is placed. The materials are specifically picked to bring out the most of the theme. Using One Kind Of MaterialThe challenge for this nageire flower arrangement is to use only one kind of material. Why is it a challenge? When using only one kind of material, the arrangement tends to be dull and boring. So, creativity is needed here to make the arrangement more interesting to look at. As in any nageire, you need to use a tall vase. The material I chose for this arrangement is agapanthus. So, I arranged 3 agapanthus in the vase, making sure they look balanced because the flowers are quite big. Then, I used the remaining agapanthus stems that I have cut and attach to the agapanthus stems in the arrangement using toothpicks, like this. And my overall freestyle nageire, turns out like this...
Emphasizing On Straight LinesThis is an example of a nageire flower arrangement which emphasizes on straight lines. To achieve that, we need to choose materials that are 'straight' in nature. In this example, I chose cypress sticks to show the straight lines, and gerberas as the focal flowers. As in any nageire arrangement, a tall container is needed. So, here I used a white ceramic tall vase. I begin arranging the focal flowers. Make sure each is in different height and depth. Then, I inserted the cypress sticks. Instead of inserting them all straight, I bent some of them to add uniqueness to the arrangement. As a result, I have introduced some really interesting lines to the arrangement.
Emphasizing On Curved LinesThis a nageire flower arrangement which emphasizes on curved lines. It is not in a tall container, as the normal nageire arrangement, but the method of arranging the flowers is following the nageire way (direct fixing). The container is very unique, it is in triangular with a small opening on top. The materials I used are pink gerberas and foxtail ferns. First, I inserted the foxtail ferns after considering the best way to show the beautiful curved lines. Then, I placed the two gerberas in the middle. Since the container's shape in considered flat, I inserted one gerberra at a different height than the other to create dimension.
Using Same ColorBasically, the idea of this nageire flower arrangement is to use flowers or materials with the same tone of color. In this example, I chose yellow as the theme color. I found a yellow rectangular glass vase and decided to go with it. The flowers I chose are sunflower, chrysanthemums, draceana leaves, johol leaves and orange gerberas. First, I prepare the container. Fill up with clean water. Then, I inserted the sunflower at one end of the container, securing it with a single fixture. Then, I began inserting the draceana leaves and the johol leaves. Next, I inserted the chrysanthemum. Since, the sunflower and the chrysanthemum are in the same tone, I added orange gerberas to the arrangement. The gerberas were arranged at different heights from each other.
Using Contrast ColorsThe theme is to create a nageire flower arrangement with contrast colors. Contrast colors means colors that are opposite but complementary to each other. In this example, I used yellow as the main color and complements it with purple. The container is tall glass container, lemon yellow in color. The flowers are yellow foeniculum, purple lisianthus and draceana leaves. I rolled up the draceana leaves to make the arrangement more interesting.
Emphasizing On Color Of ContainerThis is a nageire flower arrangement emphasizing color of container. So first, pick your container which is interesting in shape or color. Then, plan to match the color of the container with the flowers that you are going to use in the arrangement. That is the theme of this nageire. How you plan your color combination is up to you. You can go monologous, analogous, complementary, split complementary or triad. If you would like to know more about color combination, you can click here. I chose a tall glass, red glossy container, and I decided to go analogous with this one. So, I picked a sturdy branch of fox face and instead of arranging it vertically, because this is a nageire arrangement, I arranged it across the mouth of the container, horizontally. The branch itself is quite heavy, so making it stand vertically and securely would be difficult. So, after I placed the fox face branch, I inserted two stems of red anthuriums to create nice curvy lines in the arrangement. Since the fox face branch is quite 'hard', introducing the soft lines of the anthuriums complements it nicely. Next, I added hypericum berries as fillers. For foliage, I added two monstera leaves, and the two are facing each other. This creates an interesting section in the arrangement. As a whole, I am happy with the way the arrangement turned out. It looks balanced and the colors are bright and beautiful.
