Lilac Love

by Peggy
(Flint, MI, USA)

When my fiance asked me to marry him, there was never a doubt as to whether or not I would say yes or as to which type flower I would use for our wedding - LILACS - my all time favorite flower!

So naturally, we decided on a May wedding in order to have the lilacs available. I knew right away what my flowers would look like - I saw them clear as day in my mind's eye.

My creative juices started flowing and in no time I had made all the flowers for our wedding.

I received tons of compliments, people were amazed that the lilacs were silk and not real.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we had a warmer than usual spring here in Michigan so unfortunatley fresh lilacs were past their bloom and I had to resort to silk.

I did manage to find a few lilacs still beautiful on the branches the day before our wedding and was able to place them in little pewter vases tied to the pews with lilac and ivory bows. The fragrance was absolutely heavenly!!!

Gotta love those lilacs!!
