Video Excerpt

Hi, I'm Sandy with Afloral.

Today, we are going to make a small grapevine wreath. Something that you could use for your house. We'll call this home decor.

I have a small wreath and I've already glued on a few begonia leaves to it. And I'm going to add Maiden Hair ferns, this is a single stem. It's like this when you buy it. I just love it because it's lazy and a little more petite.

And we're going to glue some pieces on. We have some pieces come to one side and some draping down the other side.

With the hot glue pot we have available, it's quite useful because you don't have to hold the glue gun in your hand. Just dip and stick, and I just love that. Anything that frees up the hand, works wonderfully.

Here's some greens added here and there. And now, we're going to add some flowers. You can add any color and any kind you would like, depending on what goes with your house. So that's a lot of an individual decision-making.

So I have chosen, because I am a berried woman. Look at these rosehips, they look like little berries and they're beautiful. If you have roses, you'd probably seen these. And we have a couple stems of rosehips and it goes with the grapevine.

It looks very natural and it has a beautiful burgundy color, and we'll put on eof those on either side.

You'll notice that, just because our wreath isn't large, doesn't mean that you're arrangement can't be large.

So, we're taking a small wreath and our design is making it look larger.

I have a third stem of rosehip, and I'm going to cut this one up. In floral design, we usually cut them up and put everything back together.

And I'm going to do that, so I'm bringing these roses in closer to the center as well. So I have some on the outside and some in the center.

Now, I'd like to add some flowers to our wreath. I'm going to call it a year-round wreath. It isn't fall, nor it's going to be a christmas wreath, but something you can hang around your home anytime.

I have a little hydrangea here, some little hydrangea florets. This is actually one whole flower, I cut it ahead of time and use as small bunches. We'll glue on those.

Can you see how pretty it is already? We've got roses, greeneries and some hydrangea flowers. Let me add some Baby Breaths here because they are also like the Maiden Hair fern is wispy and light.

I think it will lighten up the dark wreath, with dark berries on it, I will use a little bit of lighter flowers.

All of these are just glued in, dipping in our glue pot, then adding the flowers one at a time.

I try to make sure that when I glue them onto the wreath, I'm actually glueing them onto the wreath and not just adhering them onto another stem of flowers.

The hot glue is pretty strong, you want to make sure you have enough on your stem ito hold it in place and not so much so as to burn your finger.

Okay, now the last thing I am going to do is make a little bow to finish it off. And this design, could be hngaing right side up or your design could be at the bottom.

There's nothing to say. You can put your design anywhere you like. This design was created this way, let me just add the bow and we'll be all set.

I've chosen a very fine sheer ribbon because most of my flowers are light. And I like the contrast of sheer lightweight ribbon against the grapevine.

Sometimes putting things together that are opposites works best.
