Green Dendrobium Hawaiian Garland

Garlands or leis as they call it in Hawaii, are easy to make. Here, I'm going to show you how to make a green dendrobium hawaiian garland.

It can be used in all kinds of occassion. First, you need to prepare a few things...

The things you need :

  • a needle
  • thread
  • 4 to 5 stalks of green dendrobiums
  • gold ribbon

The number one thing you have to do is separate each dendrobium. Cut off each dendrobium's stem.

Next, remove 3 petals on top of each flower. Then, separate the lip from the remaining body, like this...

After all the flowers are separated, divide them equally into 4 groups.

Now, prepare the needle and the thread. Cut the thread to about 1 metre long and insert into the needle, just like when you want to do some sewing.

Next, insert each dendrobium into the needle one by one into the same direction. Work with one group at a time. When a group has finished, insert the lip of dendrobium one by one as well. Your garland should look like this half the way...

When a group of dendrobiums has finished, start working with the other dendrobium lips group. But this time, in the opposite direction.

When that has finished, work with the last group, alos in the opposite direction as the first group.

When you are done, arrange the flowers to make them compact and not move around when you wear it.

Tie a small ribbon on both ends and connect the two ends using the same ribbon.

Your green dendrobium hawaiian garland should look like this.
