How To Make A Gladiolus Centerpiece

This video shows you how to make a large and tall gladiolus centerpiece to decorate your table.

After watching this video, clearly you will realize that if you know the techniques to arrange flowers in a vase, be it a large or a small vase, you can easily arrange any type of flower in a vase.

For a tall vase like in the video, it is best to use long stemmed flowers because it is proportionate to the height of the vase.

You can use long stemmed flowers like calla lilies, tuberoses, etc.

Insted of monstera leaves you can use any large leaf foliage to go with the flower of your choice.

Enjoy watching the video.

How To Arrange Flowers In A Large Vase

Duration : 03:17mins

What You Need :

  • 30 gladioluses
  • 8 monstera leaves
  • A vase at least 50cm tall
  • scissors or knife
  • tape measure
  • a dash of household bleach

The Steps

1. Remove any leaves that will be below the water level of the vase. Leaves rot in water and will cause te water to smell.

2. If any of the bottom flowers are looking wilted or tired, pinch them off with your fingers.

3. Cut off the stems of 3 monstera leaves. With the other five leaves, cut the stems to about 30cm.

4. Ensure your vase is vlean. Fill with fresh cold water and add a dash of household bleach to keep it nice and fresh.

5. Line the vase with 3 monstera leaves.

6. Using the scissors, cut the stems on an angle, to enable maximum water absorption.

7. Cut the stems to stand double the height of the vase. Measure your flowers against your tape measure, from the end of the stem to the tip of the flower.

8. Arrange 20 gladioluses in teh vase, ensuring they are the same height and evenly spread.

9. With the last 10 gladioluses, cut 10cm off the bottom and feed them in around the outside of the vase. This will make it look like the flowers are bursting out of the vase.

10. Place your centerpiece on the table.
